Appliance keeps emails compliant

Will help firms comply with internal and external rules

Email security specialist CipherTrust has released a new version of its gateway security appliance, which it said will help firms comply with internal and external rules and make it easier for administrators to manage email-use policies and stop spam.

IronMail Gateway 6.0 includes enhanced graphical reporting features to give administrators a better view of violations of email policy, said CipherTrust European managing director David Stanley.

A dictionary correlation feature can also help firms’ regulatory compliance efforts by ensuring that only messages that comply with defined external or internal regulations can be sent, he added.

“The fact that many companies are not compliant is a worrying [problem],” said Stanley. “Our goal is to increase the number complying and increase the usability of what is a complex product under the bonnet.”

The new version also provides administrators with an integrated view of data from the firm’s TrustedSource reputation system. This enables more effective detection, and advanced reporting and analysis of inappropriate messages and end-user habits, said Stanley.

A configurable dashboard can be tailored to companies’ needs – whether they use IronMail primarily as an anti-spam product or an outbound compliance tool – and a SmartStart wizard enables an easy set-up, Stanley added.

“Our users wanted a good navigational look and feel and a product that is not difficult to use, set up or interpret,” he said.

CipherTrust also launched its IronMail Edge appliance last week, which it said will typically block 50 percent of unwanted emails before they enter the corporate network.
