Elizabeth Shaw tightens security
Chocolate maker wants more control over its systems
Chocolate maker Elizabeth Shaw has improved its network security with a unified threat management (UTM) system from vendor Network-box.
Elizabeth Shaw has a turnover of £12m, including £2m worth of exports. The company conducts a lot of retailer interaction online, and wanted a more secure system.
Elliot Price, IT manager at Elizabeth Shaw, says the company wanted more control over its systems.
'Before this we were doing email virus checking on our exchange server but that wasn't really working,' said Price.
'We were having problems with spam and malware and we really didn’t have much control over web browsing. We also wanted to stop access to certain categories of nasty sites. Our staff could have easily accidentally downloaded inappropriate or malicious material and malware.'
Content filtering was an important part of the security mix.
Elizabeth Shaw didn’t have any control over employee web access, or web filtering.
