New switches to join S club
10GbE uplinks and power over Ethernet ports made to measure for corporate VoIP rollouts, says vendor.
Force10 networks last week expanded its S series switch family with two new members, the S50V and S25P, which could appeal to firms needing gigabit copper or fibre links.
Both the S50V and S25P have four optional 10GbE optical links and can be stacked eight deep, with the S50V providing “power over Ethernet at full power on all 48 ports for 100Mbit/s IP phones”, according to Force10 Networks’ Steve Garrison.
The S50V has 48 gigabit links comprising 44 copper and four dual-personality ports that can accommodate optical transceivers. The S25P uses small form factor pluggable (SFP) for its 24 ports, which can be gigabit or 10/100Mbit/s.
The S50V and S25P are due in December priced at £4,800 + VAT and £5,340 + VAT respectively.
