Maintenance tasks issued in real time
Scottish council installs mobile work order system
North Ayrshire Council is using a mobile work order system to improve the efficiency of its trades team, which provides maintenance services to council tenants.
The council is deploying vendor APD’s mobile information platform to send electronic job dispatches to plumbers, electricians and joiners in real time.
Previously, staff made regular trips to council offices to update paperwork, receive new tasks and complete forms to request new stock. Now full task details are sent directly via Panasonic toughbooks using a GPRS wireless connection. Reports can be completed on the move while stock levels are automatically updated.
‘Our operatives are now out in the field for a much greater proportion of time, which makes us more efficient and effective,’ said Karen Sillars, head of building services at North Ayrshire.
