ITV appoints Sky's former tech chief as CTO

Paul Dale is ITV's first ever CTO on the management board

ITV has appointed former Sky media tech chief as CTO

ITV has appointed Sky’s former media technology director Paul Dale as its new chief technology officer (CTO).

Dale joined ITV from Astro, one of Asia’s leading pay-TV operators.

Dale will join ITV later this year and lead its newly formed Technology and Platforms directorate. He will be responsible for transmission, broadcast services, platforms and “exploiting technology to help deliver the company’s transformational change plan”, according to ITV. It is the first time ITV has had a CTO on its management board.

He will report to Adam Crozier, chief executive of ITV.

“Paul’s appointment is the latest addition to the transformation team we are putting together for ITV over the next three to five years,” said Crozier.

“ITV has lagged behind its competitors for too long in terms of technology. Paul’s arrival signals a commitment to completely reshape our digital future."

Dale was development and operations director while at Sky and has also worked at the BBC as controller of worldwide partnerships and controller of future media and technology.

He said his appointment marks a major shift for the company, which acknowledges that “great content and technology go hand in hand to create a sustainable business”.
