Nato is using new software to better manage external information
Nato has improved its internal information portal with new software to better interpret unstructured data and identify patterns between disparate sources of information.
Some 300 staff at the security organisation use the portal daily to access, retrieve, process and analyse information from news agencies and web sites.
Other features of the new system include categorisation and hyperlinking, which are intended to give Nato users better management of real-time data streams.
“Nato’s fundamental role is to safeguard the freedom and security of the member countries. To secure these goals, we need the best available solutions to index all the external content coming from several repositories and make that information easily available to our experts,” said Nato system manager Bernard Frala.
Autonomy Corporation supplied the software.
