Requirements management specialists Xeauand Jama Software have teamed up to launch a new tool designed to encourage entire software development teams to work more effectively and ensure their projects meet the needs of the business.

Contour is an Ajax-powered, web-based tool designed to be user-friendly. It can be purchased on a low risk, on-demand model, according to Xeau's director, Barry Gilbert.

"Many of the old tools are too specialist, too geeky, but we're taking that away without diminishing the functionality," Gilbert argued. "For a tool like this to be successful, as many people as possible should be able to use it."

Ajax functionality lends the tool a drag and drop feel to make it more intuitive and user-friendly, while a central repository enables team members to all work on the same versions during projects, said the firm.

"Contour can help remove project management overheads because it encourages and focuses the team into deliverables, and streamlines the development process, " added Jama's Eric Winquist.
