Co-op set to make mint on retail systems

Retailer will sell its bespoke platforms to other sector businesses

Co-op is seeking to increase revenue by selling its own retail management system

The Co-operative Group is to start selling its in-house developed electronic point-of-sale and store management systems to other retailers.

Co-op’s set of systems, dubbed InControl-Evolution, supports the operations of the retailer’s own 3,000-strong store network, including its pharmacy business and the Somerfield chain of supermarkets.

Retailers can buy modules of the platform which include functionality such as stock control, shelf replenishment product information, central merchandising and remote management of mobile devices.

According to the firm, the web-based system is “priced competitively”.
