SAS gets fresh IDeaS

BI vendor looking to compete more effectively with Oracle, IBM, SAP with revenue management acquisition

IDeaS acquisition will help SAS compete in the retail sector

Business intelligence (BI) software giant SAS has acquired revenue-management software firm IDeaS for an undisclosed sum.

The addition will help SAS compete with a variety of big name vendors, including Oracle, IBM, SAP and Business Objects, in the BI space, particularly in the retail sector of the market.

SAS has offices in London, Manchester and Glasgow, and has its UK headquarters in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, and counts supermarket Waitrose, the NHS, the Automobile Association (AA) and Swansea University amongst its customers.

IDeaS has become a wholly owned subsidiary of SAS, adding 200 employees to the estimated 10,000 it already employs worldwide.
