Neverfail upgrades its Scope server monitor

Out-of-the-box monitoring and performance-optimisation solution is aimed at SMEs

High-availability software specialist Neverfail has announced an upgrade to its Scope server check, optimisation and performance evaluation tool.

The software continuously collects hardware and software configurations, application and system logs, and system performance data from servers to help identify problems, using an automated data-collection tool and a proprietary analysis engine.

It attempts to solve those problems by making automatic configuration changes, installing new drivers or deploying service packs in some cases, and otherwise triggers an application failover to an alternative server to ensure continuous availability.

Andrew Barnes, senior vice-president of corporate development for Neverfail, conceded that there is a wide range of similar management tools available from HP, IBM and others, but said that Neverfail prides itself on providing a complete solution at lower cost.

“It is a question of whether they have those [alternative management] tools, or if they have them correctly implemented. Many SMEs are less sophisticated in managing those environments, and this is an out-of-the-box solution that requires no configuration,” he said.
