Google is top brand

A survey says: Google's name is king in the land of the brands

Google continues to dominate a list of the top brands in the world, according to list creators, and brand management company, Millward Brown Optimor.

In its third yearly list Google was once again the clear winner, with a brand value of $86m, and a yearly 'value change' of some 30 per cent. Microsoft, the next IT firm in the list, came in at third place with a value of approximately $71m, and change amounting to 29 per cent. Between these firms came do-all American giant General Electric.

IT and communications firms take the majority of places in the top ten, grabbing six slots. As well as the aforementioned 1st and 3rd place firms, China Mobile is 5th, IBM 6th, Apple 7th and Nokia is 9th.

Overall technology firms have performed the best, and grabbed 28 slots in the top 100. According to Millward Brown they out-performed all other companies, and had brand value growth of $187.5bn.
