Charity email revamp to improve security

Email system vital to Down's Syndrome Association service

The Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA) has overhauled its email messaging to improve remote access and tighten security.

The charity has replaced the system it has used for some nine years, because it was difficult for staff working away from the office to access email. It also provided only basic security measures.

Stuart Honeysett, IT officer at the DSA, says moving to the fully managed service from Cobweb Solutions ensures that remote staff can email and share information with colleagues.

‘We have found that people are increasingly using email when initially contacting us,’ he said.

‘New parents don’t always want to reveal their name when contacting us about their child who has Down’s Syndrome; email seems to break down the barriers, as there is an element of anonymity to it.’
