International Olympic Committee extends Atos Origin deal

Supplier will act as the body's IT systems integrator for the Olympic Games until 2016

Atos Origin plays a crucial role in maintaining the information systems at the Games

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has extended its IT systems integration contract with Atos Origin for a further four-year period.

Under the deal, the supplier will provide the platforms underpinning Russia’ s Sochi Olympic Winter Games in 2014 and the summer Olympic Games in 2016, following the delivery of the Vancouver Games in 2010 and London in 2012.

IT projects for integration and management of the systems relaying competition results and information about athletes are central to Atos Origin’s remit and considered “mission critical” in terms of data security, tight budgets and deadlines.

"Atos Origin is the brains behind the technology operations for the Olympic Games, consistently delivering high-quality services on schedule,” said Jacques Rogge, president of the International Olympic Committee.

“We are confident that it will once again deliver an outstanding job for future Games”, he said.

Previously, Atos had worked on the Salt Lake City Games in 2002, Athens in
2004, Turin in 2006 and Beijing in 2008.
