Birmingham to decide on transformation plan

City council to vote on change plan for Capita outsourcing contract

Birmingham City councillors are meeting this week to approve a corporate business transformation plan.

The meeting follows last month's announcement that the council has signed a 10 year £475m deal with Capita to help it push through the changes.

Paul Tilsley, the council's deputy leader, says the introduction of these structures will herald a significant step forward in the plan will enhance the quality of services offered to Birmingham citizens.

'We have high ambitions and these proposals will undoubtedly help us improve customer and staff satisfaction as well as achieving better productivity,' he said.

The plan will be implemented by the newly created Service Birmingham company, and focuses on areas like the improvement of housing, customer relations and information management.

'We want to get the point where we are rightfully regarded as a world-class local authority,' Tilsley said.
