NetIQ unveils security management suite
Security Manager 6.0 with Change Guardian for Windows suite provides an integrated solution for data security compliance
IT management software specialist NetIQ has today accelerated its push into the security management market with the launch of a new version of its Security Manager suite, featuring new functionality capable of monitoring and managing both physical and cyber security threats.
The company said the new Security Manager 6.0 with Change Guardian for Windows suite, unveiled at the Gartner IT Security Summit in Washington DC, integrated security information and event management functionality with user and access monitoring, auditing of system changes, and threat detection capabilities for Windows platforms.
Jörn Dierks, lead security architect for Europe, Middle East and Africa at NetIQ, said that previously firms looking to comply with legislation governing data security would have to deploy "four or five" different solutions, but the new suite would provide the required functionality for monitoring both cyber threats and physical threats, such as staff leaking confidential data, through one integrated solution.
"Our long- and short-term plan is to take security management [functionality] and consolidate it," Dierks added.
Alongside integrating security management with user and access management and auditing capabilities, the suite also features new file-based log server technology. The company said its new Trace module features digital signatures to ensure system logs are not tampered with, and analytics and reporting functionality for monitoring security information.
