Attunity upgrades integration suite

Data and app integration firm Attunity updates its Integration Suite

Data and application integration software specialist Attunity has unveiled a major update to its Attunity Integration Suite (AIS), featuring enhanced support for Microsoft SQL Server.

Central to AIS 5.0 is an extension of the suite's Attunity Stream change data capture (CDC) module that allows it to integrate with Microsoft's SQL Server 2000 database. CDC functionality means firms transferring data from one database to another can only select and transfer that data which has changed, allowing them to complete the process far quicker.

Andy Bailey, vice-president of worldwide marketing at Attunity, said that as data volumes and the desire to analyse data in real time continued to grow at many firms, the need for CDC transfer technology is also growing. "The time it takes to do batch transfers is simply getting too long for many firms, but by only transferring the data that has changed you can get transfers done in a fraction of the time," he said.

This functionality is particularly useful in any transaction-intensive organisation where managers need to frequently extract data from databases to analyse it, he added.

Separately, AIS 5.0 also features a wizard-based CDC Accelerator for SQL Server 2005 Integration Services designed to make it simpler for firms to set up extract, transform and load (ETL) processes; new adapters for queuing systems; and new services designed to make deployment of the suite easier.
