Fujitsu sells managed VoIP

Fujitsu Managed VoIP is a managed IP telephony system aimed at medium to large enterprises

Fujitsu Services will today announce a managed IP telephony system aimed at medium to large enterprises, and priced per user per month to make charges more predictable.

Fujitsu Managed VoIP will be available next month with a UK-wide launch. The system will be hosted from datacentres in and around London, with network operations centres (NOCs) in the Midlands, Stevenage and Manchester.

“We’ve developed a system initially to replace existing public switched telephone network lines and [legacy] private branch exchanges,” said Stuart Ebdon, Fujitsu Services’ head of vendor strategy. “The charges are easily understandable and we’re going for a one-off set-up fee of £25 + VAT per user.”

Fujitsu Services will charge £21 + VAT per user each month, which covers internal and external calls except those to premium rate and international numbers. For an additional £4 to £15 per month, customers can rent handsets. These range from a standard IP phone to a feature-rich one at £15 per month.

“Voicemail is included as standard, accessed by dial-in or through email,” Ebdon added. “We’ve chosen the Geostream Metaswitch, which since it’s standards-based, allows us to interconnect with customer relationship management apps, presence-aware software and other unified messaging products.”

Customers also get a voice conferencing service and the system allows laptop-based softphones to be used through VPN connections.

Service-level agreements come as standard with the service. “The service will also have an online portal, which will allow users to manage handsets and the configuration of VoIP parameters,” added Ebdon.
