Tool ties Salesforce to Oracle apps
A new adapter from specialist firm Bluewolf links on-demand to on-premises CRM applications
Following on the heels of Salesforce.com’s integration adapter for the SAP R/3 enterprise applications suite, third-party vendor Bluewolf has released an adapter to link Salesforce with Oracle 11i applications.
Bluewolf, a company that provides consulting services for Salesforce deployments, said the software offers a way to tie in Salesforce's hosted software with Oracle 11i CRM and other applications.
The adapter integrates with Oracle’s Trading Community Architecture and is written in Oracle’s PL/SQL language, Bluewolf said. It will be offered free to customers who subscribe to Bluewolf’s ESI (Enterprise Salesforce Integration) product.
"For the first time ever, customer's can truly tie Oracle's premise-based applications to Salesforce's On-Demand CRM applications - without writing or supporting a single line of code," said Lou Fox, chief architect at Bluewolf, in a statement.
All but the simplest deployments are likely to need customisation work, however, and the Bluewolf toolkit is extensible.
Customers already using the program include BP Solar and software firm Nuance Communications.
Other firms are sceptical about the need for one-off connectors.
“We have several customers tying NetSuite into other systems, but haven’t taken the time to build any standard connectors,” said Zach Nelson, chief executive of NetSuite, an on-demand business applications company.
”Even with such connectors, the implementations still require a massive amount of customisation, so it’s just easier to handle them one at a time.”
