Presence Networks aims to solve IT chiefs' IM headaches

New service enables secure use of public IM clients

Unified communications specialist Presence Networks has launched a new managed service designed to provide enterprises with a secure transport gateway for real-time unified communications.

Networker 4.0 enables secure communications with public IM clients like Yahoo and MSN, boosting productivity and reducing risk for enterprises, according to the firm's vice president of business development, David Stanley.

"We are entirely focused on enterprise instant messaging and secure instant messaging, which makes us different to the others in the space," he added. " There are some good IM systems out there but for use inside the company – we're trying to be the bridge between the old world of MSN and the others, and having IM internally."

Other features include email, file sharing, eMeeting or teleconferencing all encrypted at 128bit.

"In the short term it ticks all the boxes of getting rid of IM security issues, and the future is about connecting into IBM and Microsoft systems," said Stanley.
