Manchester Council overhauls web site
Sixth most popular local authority web site gets re-design
Manchester City to improve web site
Manchester City Council is to install an enterprise content management system (CMS) to improve access to information and prepare for Web 2.0 initiatives.
The council has the sixth most popular local authority web site in the country and is re-designing and re-developing the site to improve customers’ experiences.
Vendor Jadu will supply the software as part of the wider Improvement Programme, which supports global marketing of Manchester.
The council’s web site is made up of tens of thousands of pages, much of which will be migrated to the new content management system to simplify access to information.
The re-development will also allow the council to develop Web 2.0 initiatives, such as social networking and blogs.
‘A world class city needs a world class website, focused on improving the quality of services to our residents, which is a fundamental part of our community strategy,’ said Manchester Improvement Programme senior project manager Annette Walters.
The new Manchester.gov.uk web site will be launched later this year.
