Outsourcers under threat

Insourcing is a growing trend amongst users

A growing trend of insourcing IT systems could have a significant impact on the outsourcing market, says the National Outsourcing Association (NOA).

Sixty per cent of IT professionals believe insourcing is here to stay and firms choosing to bring services back in-house pose a significant risk to outsourcers.

Financial services provider Prudential recently decided to bring part of its IT operations back in-house (Computing, 7 July).

And NOA co-founder Nigel Roxburgh says more firms are considering sourcing options.

‘When outsourcing goes wrong, there is almost a gut reaction to insource,’ he said.

Thirty per cent of respondents believe insourcing is a knee-jerk response to bad outsourcing experiences.
