House of Fraser goes wireless

Communications systems to provide a common network

High street department chain House of Fraser is installing a standardised wireless communication system across 10 shops to improve staff communication.

The company is deploying the network at its Beatties outlets, which are currently being re-branded, to deliver a common network across the business.

The wireless network will replace old mobile radio systems with new handsets that will enable staff to be contacted wherever they are.

Base stations will be strategically deployed to provide full coverage throughout the stores to enable quick contact. The system will also link to security and other alarm systems, sending automatic text alerts.

House of Fraser spokesman Keith Wilkinson says the system will free up staff to spend more time on the shop floor rather than their desks.

‘Access to reliable, trouble-free communications improves the contactability of staff and enables them to focus on the retail side of the business,’ he said.

‘The Multitone system will enable us to increase productivity and provide consistently high-quality service to customers in every store.

‘It will also deliver big cost savings by rolling up maintenance and support into a single contract for all stores.’
