Council updates IT to help meet citizen's needs
Bromsgrove to implement converged IP network
Bromsgrove Council has upgraded its IT infrastructure to cut costs and serve its citizens better.
The IT update will include an IP network to allow for converged phone, data and wireless capabilities.
Full disaster recovery, backup and business continuity preparation have also been created, along with a storage area network system.
The council says it requires the technology to meet the needs of younger citizens and satisfy the requirements of the egovernment agenda.
Technology enables 21st century councils to have closer engage with citizens through offering services securely online, says Bromsgrove's head of e-government, Deborah Poole.
'We need to provision for business continuity in case of any unforeseen issues and work flexibly, allowing staff to gain access to centrally-held information wherever they are,' she said.
'We chose supplier NextiraOne due to its track record in local government and its ability to see beyond conventional communications boundaries.'
