Profits healthy in Europe and North America

Capgemini's profits are up 37.5 per cent

Services firm Capgemini saw a healthy 37.5 per cent growth in its first-half results to €231m (£182m) from €168m (£132m) in the year-ago quarter.

The firm is the latest in a string of services companies to report healthy results as firms look to outsource IT to cut costs.

Revenue eased 0.5 per cent to €4.37bn (£3.44bn) from €4.4bn (£3.46) in the year-ago half.

Paul Hermelin, chief executive at Capgemini, said that the company had seen no signs of a slowdown.

"Against fears the market has developed pretty well," he said.

North American operations saw revenues grow 5.4 per cent while all regions in Europe apart from the UK posted significant growth.
