Performance management tool updated

Performance management software vendor Geac has released a new version of its MPC suite, which offers better integration with third-party systems; enhanced usability and reporting capabilities; and tools to better monitor business performance and help firms comply with regulations.

MPC 7 covers the full range of performance management functions, from strategy and planning to the monitoring of execution, but the main enhancements are for business planning and reporting, according to the company.

The reporting capabilities have been made easier to use, said Geac product marketing manager Sharon Crawford.

MPC 7 integrates with Microsoft Reporting Services whereas previous versions used Business Objects’ Crystal Reports, which Crawford said was too specialised for some users.

MPC 7 also features OpenLink, a new web-based tool that enables tighter integration with firms’ existing business applications, such as enterprise resource planning systems. “IT managers will be interested [in MPC 7] because with one platform integration issues disappear and administration and maintenance is much easier,” argued Crawford.

The product also allows end-users to create free-form reports in Excel but still have access to the data in the centralised application, Crawford added.

The new functionality should help firms comply with regulations by giving them a better view of their business. “MPC gives CEOs and CFOs more insight into their organisation, making it quicker for them to get results so they can report to regulators and adapt to [market] changes,” said Crawford.
