Suite controls crypto keys

UK cryptography specialist Cipher will today launch KeyAuthority, a new key-management suite to help firms reduce the costs of creating, deploying and managing cryptographic keys.

The system can help firms to manage and distribute keys, which are used to establish the identity of web applications and virtual private network links between offices and trading partners, and to maintain security.

Laws require many firms to keep up-to-date information on where their keys are and how they are controlled. With some systems this can be difficult and expensive, said Paul Galwas of nCipher. A small deployment of KeyAuthority would cost about £30,000 and a typical global enterprise deployment would cost £300,000, according to the vendor.
