Logicalis details expansion plans
Systems integrator and IT services specialist Logicalis has confirmed its acquisition spree is set to continue
Fresh from its recent acquisition of the IT division of US service provider Carotek, systems integrator and IT services specialist Logicalis has confirmed its acquisition spree is set to continue with the company keen to expand its presence in the UK, US, Germany and Central Europe.
Speaking to IT Week, chief executive Ian Cook said that the company was committed to becoming a truly international player and despite completing over five acquisitions of HP and IBM services-focused systems integrators and resellers in the last three years it was still in the market for further purchases.
"There will be a continuation of our acquisition strategy, but any targets would have to provide the complementary skills sets we are looking for," he said. "We are not interested in just buying scale."
Cook said he could not divulge which technical skills the company was keen to acquire, but admitted it was particularly interesting in building its presence in central Europe and Germany and also had its eye on further expansion in the UK and US.
"We need to look at where our existing customers will take us; where barriers to entry are low; and where the vendors we support are going," he explained. " In that light, Central Europe is a big area for us, and beyond that Asia-Pac is somewhere we'd aim to build our presence. Having a larger international footprint will be better for our customers."
Separately, Cook said the company was also keen to expand its portfolio of green IT services, which it launched earlier this year with a subsidised environmental awareness and best practice training programme for IT chiefs in conjunction with environmental charity Global Action Plan. He added that it was currently in talks with APC about including various energy saving and measurement measures in Logicalis' networking services portfolio.
