Microsoft to start unified communications wave on 16 October

Microsoft has set the date for general availability of its latest wave of communications software, setting a 16 October release date for Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007, Office Communicator 2007 and Office Live Meeting.

In an invitation to press for a webcast, Microsoft said that chairman Bill Gates and Jeff Raikes, president of Microsoft’s business division, will host the session.

In July, Microsoft released OCS 2007 and Office Communicator 2007 to manufacturing but the 16 October date will mean that customers gain access do physical disks and documentation.

In August, Microsoft released Service Pack 1 for Exchange 2007, the underlying server for its unified communications strategy.
