McAfee upgrades management tool

New version of ePolicy Orchestrator is 'people and process' based

Security risk management specialist McAfee last week launched in beta the latest version of its ePolicy Orchestrator security management product featuring a more customisable web-based console, and better integration with other tools.

"Everyone is expected to do a lot more with less today, so we're making the whole thing a lot more process driven," explained McAfee security analyst Greg Day. "The person that has all the information will be able to drill through the workflow processes to fix [any problems]."

Key features in ePolicy Orchestrator 4 include configurable reports which can be accessed via a dashboard, as well as a web-based interface which can be tailored to an individual's role without the need for any software installation, he added.

"A lot of people want the high-level picture but not a more granular version, and vice versa," argued Day. "So we've added an interface which deals with people and processes and allows them to see what they want to see."
