Socitm selects Hampshire County Council head of IT Jon Creese as next president

The public sector ICT professionals' organisation, the Society of Information Technology Management (Socitm), has announced its new president is to be Hampshire County Council head of IT Jos Creese.

Creese was confirmed as the new president at Socitm's AGM on 22 April.

Creese chaired best technology practice subscription service Socitm Insight and was one of the society's three vice-presidents prior to becoming president.

In Socitm's 2009 annual report, Creese said that demands on public sector IT will increase after the general election.

"As our members prove themselves in the battle ahead, so must the society, by providing the right armoury of services and support," he added.

At a national level, Creese is a member of the CIO Council, and chairs the Local Public Service CIO Council. He has over 20 years' experience in IT management, and joined Hampshire County Council in 2002.

Creese succeeds Hillingdon council CIO Steve Palmer and will hold the office for one year with immediate effect.
