F-Secure launches new version of client security tool
F-Secure's DeepGuard should detect and stop zero day attacks and tackle spam menace
Anti-malware specialist F-Secure has launched a new version of its Client Security product, featuring new technology designed to detect and stop zero day attacks, and updated anti-spam capabilities as standard.
Version 7 of the internet security solution features DeepGuard, an application that incorporates behaviour-analysis, sandboxing and real-time heuristics technology with more traditional signature based methods, according to the firm.
It also features improved management capabilities that enable IT administrators to install, monitor and update from a single location, as well as remotely manage the Blacklight rootkit scanning feature without impacting network performance, according to F-Secure's country manager, Richard Hales.
The product represents a major upgrade for the firm, which has previously relied on signature-based techniques for virus-detection, he added.
"From our point of view, it’s a substantial difference [from previous versions] and customers will notice that the product is able to proactively detect things now," said Hales.
Version 7 has also been engineered to use less memory, even though it contains more features than previous iterations, meaning it impacts network performance less than before, he said.
Firms with existing Client Security licences can upgrade to the new version free of charge, while a Vista-compatible version will be available in a couple of months, said F-Secure.
