Brittany Ferries improves online search

New search functionality should boost web sales

Brittany Ferries has seen improvement in its web traffic after enhancing the search capability

Brittany Ferries has introduced a new search functionality to its website in an attempt to boost holiday bookings.

Under the web revamp, the search function has been transformed from a linear process to a filtered search system, meaning customers can choose their holiday using a more flexible search criteria.

“The new function allows customers to be really specific about what they search for - allowing them to create their perfect holiday, for example customers can look for hotels with gyms, or cottages where pets are welcome,” said Matt Randle, internet services manager at Brittany Ferries.

“We’ve also seen a huge increase in the number of pages Google is indexing - in just over two months it has leapt from 3000 to 308,000 pages, and shows no signs of slowing. This is really helping to improve our search engine optimisation,” said Randle.

Other new site functionality now includes a new booking widget, a tab panel, gallery and RSS feeds.

The website was built by GOSS Interactive and uses the supplier’s tools for content management and daily administration.
