Thierry Bedos, CTO of hotels.com, describes his priorities for the year ahead

In this CIO interview, Computing speaks to Thierry Bedos, CTO of hotels.com.

Bedos opened by outlining his current priorities, including enabling business growth, and driving the firm's cloud migration project.

"Top of my agenda at the moment is to follow the growth of the business, and provide the agility and scale for the technology group that the business needs," said Bedos.

"Hotels.com now operates in around 90 countries, and in 41 languages and we have more than 60 million downloads of our app. That business ecosystem is buoyant, and keeps on changing all the time. The pressure for new features, and for a shorter time to market has never been higher than it is now.

"So the main goal for my group is to deliver to the business the hotels.com experience both on mobile and desktop. As part of that we have launched a number of initiatives designed to reduce the time to market, and to be more efficient and agile.

"This year we have a target to descrease by ten per cent quarter on quarter the time to deliver new features to out customers. So that's top of my agenda at the moment.

"The other thing is our cloud migration. We've traditionally run data centres, and for the past couple of years we've been migrating our stack to public cloud. But we can't just stop delivering to the business as we do that. It's like being in a car, driving along a highway, and having to change the wheels, the engine and the seats while the vehicle's moving.

"It's proving challenging but very exciting for the team," he added.
