Get rid of groupthink: Watch Computing Wrapped on demand now

2025 was the year of the reality check

From starting with DeepSeek disruption to closing with cloud disaster, 2025 has been the year of the reality check. In Computing Wrapped 2025, now available on demand, the Computing team took a look back to forecast for the year ahead.

DeepSeek took the world by storm in January. The company’s claims of being able to train an AI model for a fraction of the cost being spent in the USA sent stock markets haywire, with even AI darling Nvidia dropping nearly 20%.

Later in the year the retail sector suffered a series of massive cyberattacks – and it wasn’t long before questions were being asked about the wisdom of putting your security in the hands of an offshore third party.

And the year has closed with a set of thankfully short-lived outages at some of the world’s largest cloud firms – Google Cloud, AWS, Azure and Cloudflare (twice) – that knocked out significant parts of the global internet. That has kicked off serious questions about the fragility of our connected world, the tradeoffs between convenience and resilience, and the possibility of cloud repatriation.

Listen now: Computing Wrapped 2025

In these ways and others, 2025 has been a year where IT leaders have had to discard long-held assumptions as they ask: “Is what everybody else is doing what I should be doing, too?”

Our end-of-year webinar, Computing Wrapped, dives into these topics and provides a solid reality check for any tech professional wondering how the sector has really changed this year.

We've brought together stories from the last 12 months to put together a comprehensive picture of tech’s state of play as we head into 2026 – looking at cyber, the internet, AI and beyond.

As well as our own insights, we tackled plenty of questions from our audience of IT leaders on topics like cloud repatriation and the environmental cost of AI.

The webinar is available for a full year, so for the next 12 months you can register and watch it on demand – just click here.
