As group director of IT for restaurant chain Pret a Manger, a position he has held since 2011, Chalkin is responsible for IT, e-commerce and shop support around the world.

A recent venture was the rolling out of cloud-based solutions to deal with mission-critical business processes across continents, including procure-to-pay, credit-to-cash, global financial consolidation, multicurrency management for five different currencies.
