ISP Freeserve has launched a high-speed internet access trial using BT's asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) platform. The trial, taking place in Manchester and London, will provide permanent access to the internet at up to 512Kbps. For £49.99 per month, participants get an 'always-on' internet link that lets them send and receive data 10 to 20 times faster than through a traditional dial-up modem connection.
