Is the big rumour sweeping the City true?

This one's a hot one – is a re-release of Wall Street Shuffle is on the cards..

As the money-making financial temples implode or drop into the safety net of state rescue, how does this affect big IT takeovers?

Well, some of the big hitters have warehouses of cash, and I suspect as the credit crunch moves up into an entirely different gear, all they have to do is wait – until any rivals massively in hock to banks or investment houses become vulnerable as their share prices fall lower than whale droppings.

There could be some bargain basement takeovers out there, just waiting for further bank/investment house/insurance group/pension fund collapses.

So maybe the end of big IT takeovers is not over – they could just be a lot cheaper.

As 10CC's classic chorus to Wall Street Shuffle says - "Gotta be cool on Wall Street when your index is low – Dow Jones ain't got time for the bums."
