Microsoft personalises Dynamics software

Dynamics NAV 2009 out 1 Decemember

Written by Rosalie Marshall

Microsoft has added new customisation to its CRM Dynamics NAV 2009 product, which will be generally available from 1 December.

The enterprise resource planning (ERP) product will now relate to an individual's job function, the company said.

"This will mean our customers will only have to work with the things that are relevant to them," explained Jan Sillemann, Microsoft Dynamics NAV director of global product management.

Microsoft said that it will deliver 21 out-of-the-box roles for customers to choose from, such as a finance manager, purchasing agent and warehouse worker. "The system will look different depending on which of the roles they choose," added Sillemann.

Kirill Tatarinov, Microsoft Business Solutions corporate vice president, said at the company's customer event in Copenhagen: "By using the role-specific user-friendly ERP solution, both groups can boost productivity and work smarter, maximising their effectiveness in driving business impact."

Users will also be given capabilities to personalise the application interface with icons relating to the processes they use most frequently, Sillemann told vnunet.com.

Added business intelligence capabilities, meanwhile, will allow users to access graphics in presentations.

New integration capabilities, called .Net Web Services, will allow partners and customers to combine data from Dynamics with other applications that support web services, said Tatarinov.
