Conmen created fake eBay site

Police investigate latest attempt to steal credit card information

Written by Nick Farrell

Scammers have used a fake website in an attempt to steal credit card information from eBay users.

The Internet Storm Center, part of security watchdog the SANS Institute, said that the scam involved a spam email which was sent to people suspected of having eBay accounts.

The victims were invited to visit a website called ebayupdates.com which was laid out exactly like the auction site.

They were then requested to enter financial information which could have been used to buy goods.
