Emulation software company Bleem made console makers see red at the Electronic Entertainment Expo this week when it demonstrated a Playstation emulator allowing gamers to play Sony Playstation games on Sega's Dreamcast console.

Similar to the company's Playstation emulator for the PC, the Dreamcast emulator boosts the graphics capability of the Playstation to 640 x 480 pixels, or even higher, with a 3D accelerator card.

Bleem said the software works with 300 games and supports all direct input compatible game controllers, including joysticks and gamepads.

The product will ship on four separate discs, and will be available late this summer from UK based Individual Computer Company or direct from Bleem's website.

Bleem took out a restraining order against Sony to ensure that it was free to demonstrate the emulator at the conference. The order prevents the Japanese games giant "from taking any actions to restrict or interfere with Bleem's ability to demonstrate its products using Playstation video games, including Playstation video games in which Sony claims the copyright".

Sony unsuccessfully took Bleem to court three times over its PC emulation software, which the electronics giant claimed violated copyright.
