Network Rail is looking to replace its train management system with a single platform

Network Rail is looking for a vendor that will supply its new traffic management system.

The contract will cover the development and distribution of the platform, which is intended as a catalyst for improvements in the overall operation and control of the rail network.

Existing train management systems will be replaced and the new set-up will also support the integration of signalling and train control processes.

The project is part of the rail operator’s £1bn IT-driven transformation programme, which is made up of 10 workstreams, some looking at how the organisation does business, and others analysing what the firm does, with the overall aim of becoming more responsive, flexible, innovative and cost-effective.

Two of the initiatives support the wider programme to ensure consistency.

The introduction of the traffic management system is part of the network operations workstream, which aims to consolidate existing information and signalling control systems into one integrated platform.

Companies wishing to participate in the selection process must submit proposals by next Thursday.
