Former Betfair IT chief Rorie Devine has been appointed as the new UK chief technology officer (CTO) at Yell, the online directories firm.
The 2007 winner of Computing’s IT Leader of the Year award will be responsible for the development of Yell’s internal IT systems and web-based technologies that support customer and product strategies.
He will join Yell’s executive management group and report to chief executive John Condron. Phil Ives, Yell’s UK head of information services and Doug Ray, director of new media technology, will both report into him.
“We’re delighted to welcome Rorie to Yell. His appointment reflects the vital importance of technology for our growth plans,” said Condron.
Since leaving Betfair in May 2008, Devine has worked for ntl: Premium TV and provided consultancy to online gaming company Bwin.
“Yell has an impressive record for developing successful products and services and I’m excited to be supporting its growth with a robust technology strategy,” he said.
