Apple developing fix for Flashback malware

Working with ISPs as well as tackling Java security flaw, says company

Apple has announced that it is developing software that will detect and remove the Flashback malware that has affected thousands of Apple computers.

A recent version of Flashback exploits a security flaw in Java, now part of Oracle's portfolio, in order to install itself on Macs.

In addition to the Java vulnerability, Flashback relies on servers hosted by the malware's authors to perform many of its critical functions. Apple is working with ISPs worldwide to disable this command and control network, said an announcement by the company.
