Nortel Networks 5530-24TFD switch review

The twenty four gigabit Ethernet ports on Nortel's 5530-24TDF switch represent a comparatively low number for the price, but twelve of them are dual mode.

Verdict

The 5530-24TFD comes complete with a pair of integrated XFP slots allowing 10GbE transceivers to be slotted straight into the chassis.

Pros: Integrated XFP slots; built-in stacking ports; good fibre/copper Gigabit options; hardware-based Layer 3 routing; integrated TDR for cable troubleshooting; good traffic management and security features.

Cons: Few Gigabit ports for the price.
