SAS offers VMware management

Tools for managing virtual and physical resources

Written by Dave Bailey

Business intelligence vendor SAS today [12-May] launched an IT management system able to span both physical and virtual environments.

The system integrates technology from SAS and server virtualisation leader VMware, to provide IT managers with a comprehensive view of their physical and virtual resources.

"With a more comprehensive view of their IT resources, businesses can more accurately forecast resource requirements, improve the delivery of IT services, and feed results to internal or external billing or revenue systems based on planned business needs," said Keith Collins, chief technology officer for SAS in a statement.

VMware alliances vice president Parag Patel said: "Combining SAS business intelligence and analytics software with VMware virtualisation gives customers greater transparency into the utilisation and performance of both physical and virtual IT resources."

SAS IT Intelligence for VMware Infrastructure will help firms reduce capital and operating expenses, assure business continuity, strengthen security and even lower carbon emissions, Collins added.
