Ultra small desktop from Lenovo completes green awards triple

Lenovo has announced new desktop PCs, including one unit that has won all three green awards

Written by David Neal

Lenovo has today announced details of its ultra small desktop PC, the first of its kind to achieve GreenGuard certification.

The ThinkCentre M57/M57P "Eco" small desktop PC is the first in the range to be made from recycled plastics, and as such is the first to receive the GreenGuard award.

GreenGuard certificates come from the eponymous non-profit, independent GreenGuard Institute, and is the final accolade to be placed on the Lenovo family of ultra small desktop machines, having already seen them gain Energy Star 4.0 and an EPEAT Gold standard awards.

Announcing the award Carl Smith, GreenGuard's chief executive, said "the ThinkCentre M57/M57P is the first desktop to meet our rigorous standards for chemical emissions."

Other benefits of the family, are their quietness, acoustic levels are low by industry standards, security features, Intel vPro allows for remote administration, while the Trusted Platform Module supplies security and encryption features.

Lenovo announced other units as well, including the M57e, a desktop for businesses that value performance over green credentials, and the A57 PC, which is designed for all-purpose office use. Both feature Intel Quad core technology and Direct X10 graphic cards.
