Blog maker Six Apart buys RSS aggregator

Six Apart snaps up Rojo

Six Apart, makers of popular blog hosting software Movable Type and TypePad, has bought RSS aggregator Rojo .

Under the deal, Rojo executive Chris Alden will head up the Movable Type team, while Aaron Emigh will become Six Apart's general manager of core technologies.

"Rojo will continue and be better than ever. The Rojo leadership team will continue to be involved with Rojo.com [and] NooZ.com , " read a post on the official Rojo blog .

"Several of the core Rojo team members are continuing to work on the service. In fact, Six Apart plans to spin the Rojo service out so we will continue to innovate and improve the service.

"As proof of that, stay tuned in September for a very significant release of Rojo. We are migrating Rojo to a new architecture which will greatly enhance the speed and usability of the service."

Barak Berkowitz, chief executive at Six Apart, added: "We are very pleased that Chris and Aaron are joining us. They bring outstanding experience and knowledge that will benefit all of our users, including the millions of those using TypePad , LiveJournal and Vox."
