The next wave of convergence: the integration of storage, voice, video and data traffic

Datacentre optimisation: reducing WAN overheads

Further reading

Most large organisations are struggling to replicate and backup higher volumes of information between datacentres for disaster recovery purposes but are also under pressure to reduce their overheads.

Many also struggle to accommodate different types of IP traffic – including voice, video and storage data – on the same wide area network (WAN), and mitigate the application performance and latency problems that often surface as a result.

This Computing audio web seminar, in association with Silver Peak, will look at how faster, more efficient data replication over the WAN can help reduce datacentre costs and consolidate existing facilities, and examine to what extent WAN optimisation and application acceleration can help with backup and disaster recovery by reducing WAN bandwidth and storage capacity requirements.

Our panel of experts will discuss key questions:

• How can new technology in the datacentre make data storage, replication and transmission more efficient?
• How can IT departments save money through WAN optimisation?
• How can datacentre managers improve access and performance for centralised applications?

Who should attend?

• CIOs
• IT directors
• IT managers
• Communications managers
• Project managers
• Network managers

Why you should attend?

• Gain an in-depth understanding of business benefits available from using WAN optimisation and application/network acceleration technology to help
• Hear how other companies have successfully optimised their datacentre WANs to reduce bandwidth requirements and improve disaster recovery processes
