There is widespread concern at all levels of the IT profession about the future direction of the IT management role. Frustrated IT staff with many years’ experience are finding their careers hitting a glass ceiling as firms say they want IT leaders who are business savvy, yet fail to offer the opportunity to develop such skills.
Yet we constantly hear that the UK is crying out for technology expertise and leadership. There is a serious mismatch happening somewhere. But one thing is clear – the role of the IT leader is changing and evolving faster than ever, and it is essential that ambitious IT professionals understand how to map their career development with the likely requirements of the top job.
In this Computing web seminar, in association with IBM, we discuss the future role and responsibilities of the IT leader, examining the steps that today’s IT experts need to take to achieve their career goals, and the key skills and expertise that will be expected of them in future.
