Review: OQO provides PC for your pocket

A mobile device

Verdict:

The OQO model e2 is the only device we have seen that lives up to the hype about UMPCs. It offers a full PC experience in a handheld format, although users have to accept the limitations such a small size imposes on the keyboard and battery life. PROS: Light; compact; runs Windows and standard applications CONS: Short battery life; small keyboard; screen may need protecting

Overall Rating:

five star

Price: £ 979

Manufacturer: OQO

handheld but keyboard sucks

This reminds me of the HP200lx that ran dos and had almost the same terrible keyboard design. They should have made it a little more like the HP 728 which had a real touch type keyboard. Then it would be a useful productive laptop alternative rather than a geek toy.

They should have provided a touch type keyboard

For this to be a viable option from my laptop they should have made it longer, thinner (still coat pocket size) and have a touch type keyboard; then I'd buy one. I am impressed at a vista device that small but the form factor is not ideal.
